Saint Francis
Saint Francis with animals, hollow casted in resin with sealed base. Finished using traditional ways of guilding and polychromy. This is a labor intensive process involving 12 individual layers of different natural shellacs and glues. Saint Francis was based with gold leaf, and then pigmented layers of egg tempera were laid. The tempera is removed with delicate tools to reveal the gold. The flesh and animals are finished in oil paints. Casted and painted in Florence, Italy. Statue is now located and shipping from Minnesota.

Original Terracotta Saint Francis
Original Terracotta Saint Francis. This sculpture stands 53cm (about 21 inches) tall. Sculpted in Florence, Italy with white clay and fired in Impruneta, Italy. It is possible to have this sculpture polychromed in collaboration with my colleague, Ana Tropia. She is a very gifted polychrome artist. Find more of her work here.
